Google is so optimistic!
When looking on Google Maps shortly after my arrival in Cairo, I found that I was only a few blocks away from a very large park. This is what it looks like on Google Maps.
The apartment where I’m staying is about midway between Bakier Stationers and Cairo American College. It’s maybe four blocks to get to the giant Zatoun Park.
When I walked over, this is what it looks like in real life…
It is just a vast, sandy wasteland. The perimeter is strewn with trash. The only signs of life were some wild dogs.
I guess me, Google and Egypt all have a very different idea of what constitutes a park.
