Park Smarter When You Travel

If you’re like most people, when you drive to the airport you simply follow the signs to the parking area that is most appropriate for the length of time you plan to be parked.

Going on a trip for several days? Head to long-term parking. Just meeting someone and only plan on being an hour or two? The short-term garage right by the terminal. And so on.

What most people never realize is that there are private parking companies surrounding nearly every major airport. The airport signs won’t direct you to these lots. If you want to use them, you’re going to have to work just a little.

You may have to go online to find out which ones are available and get directions to the lot of your choice.

Most of these lots probably only make sense if you will be parking for at least a full day. However, their rates can sometimes be less than half those of even the official airport long-term economy lots.

They offer the same type of 24 hour shuttle service to and from the terminals and many will even allow you to make reservations online in advance.

For my upcoming Africa trip, I will be using such a private lot. Compared the the airport’s long-term economy parking rates, I’ll save myself more than $75 and get the very same level of service. Or possibly even better.
